Dan Rowland
Principal & Lead Consultant
Dan is a global cannabis policy and business expert with 10 years in the industry, first as a regulator and then as an entrepreneur and advisor. He works with organizations on business planning and financial analysis, operations, strategy, investment and development, as well as licensing and compliance, customer and community engagement, and government relations.
Prior to launching his consulting practice, Dan spent five years with the City and County of Denver, leading implementation efforts for the first major city in the world to develop a fully legal, commercial cannabis industry. He has used that experience to help companies and governments understand the complexities, impacts and market opportunities associated with the legalization of cannabis and emerging markets.
Dan lives in Denver with his wife, their two boys and Frank the dog.
Orion Hurley
Chief Operations Consultant
Orion is a cannabis industry pioneer and veteran grower and business operator. He is the founder, CEO, and head of sales at Boulder Built, a licensed cultivation and manufacturing facility that has increased its valuation by 10x in just three short years of operations in Colorado's fiercely competitive cannabis industry.
A second-generation medical cannabis cultivator, "O" has designed and built several production facilities. He has a unique understanding of the regulated cannabis market and helps clients with operations, compliance, SOPs and data-driven analysis of production. He is an expert in developing and tracking cannabis production and sales KPIs, and experienced in marketing initiatives including packaging, promotion and product launches for flower, concentrates and infused product lines.
A Colorado native, O started in the regulated medical cannabis industry in 2010; first as a caregiver, and as a master cultivator and founding member of one of the first Tier-I Medical Marijuana Centers in Boulder. He's an avid snowboarder and lives near Boulder with his wife and their daughter.
Mike Scott
Principal
Mike is an entrepreneur that has built and managed several businesses, including the founding and sustained growth of the Neighborhood Dental Care network of dental clinics. He helps companies develop strategies for operational efficiency and growth and is an expert in retail, customer service and revenue generation.
With experience in real estate and highly regulated industries such as health care and video gaming, Mike is a valuable asset for both startups and experienced companies. Recently, he has assisted with the development and licensing of early-stage operators in South Dakota's emerging legal hemp and medical cannabis industries.
Mike was born and raised in South Dakota. He lives in Sioux Falls with his family and Jack the dog.
Drew Duncan
Principal
Drew is an attorney and lobbyist with an extensive practice focused on governmental affairs, state regulatory work and business services. He clerked for the Fifth Circuit Judge of the South Dakota Unified Judicial System. Drew joined Zimmer, Duncan & Cole, LLP in 2003 and helped form The Duncan Law Firm, LLP in late 2017.
He was born and raised in South Dakota, graduated from the University of Nebraska and received his law degree from the University of South Dakota in 2002. Drew is an avid golfer and outdoorsman and prides himself in being an active member of the community, serving on several boards. He lives in Sioux Falls with his wife and their two children.
